Sharing is caring and the following are 5 pointers guaranteed to improve one's skills. P.S My friend I know you won't use a single one *hides*
1. Spaghetti Bolognese is not Italian. It's a concoction popular outside of Italy. Mince meat on top of spaghetti is not Spaghetti Bolognese: that's mince meat and spaghetti .P.S It's not Bolognese until you added some cream or Milk. Inbox/e-mail me if you want the actual Bolognese sauce recipe.
2. Spices and pre packaged sauces are not what makes food taste great but the skill of the cook.
3. Using Custard Powder is not making custard from scratch. You need to actually use eggs, cream and sugar, give or take flour depending on whether you are making the custard to be serves as a dessert or for a quiche. My mother deliver this blow to me.
4. 7 Colours. This is a contentious one especially to those of a darker hue who grew up on this one. Yes it's a home cooked meal that takes most of us back to our childhoods. I don't agree with the messy beetroot that seeps beneath the rest of the plate. 7 Colours when well presented can be great.
5. When making a stew don't set the stove on the highest temperature that would be great for boiling sheep's head or "african herbs" but not for a tender succulent stew that won't ruin your dentist/orthodontist's hard work.
Let's make our meals amazing. Questions and Comments: e-mail them to gmekwa@gmail.com
