The Friend Zone

I like you and you like me but for some reason I've decided that we are better off as friends. The belief is that despite our chemistry and sexual energy bubbling at the brim, you'd make a great friend. Yes my friend who have just been placed in the friend zone.
Many dread and loath the place so much that they will vent to their friends and on social networks about their struggles as a resident of the friend zone. Those who find themselves in this space are teased by their friends and are constantly reminded of their position by articles such as these and little celebrations such as Friend Zone Monday. Phrases like "You are such a great friend" "You are like a sibling to me" "Our friendship matters more to me than a relationship between the two of us" Drive the stake a bit further.

Those in the friend zone have this idea that by being in the friend zone they have access to you in ways a lover wouldn't: which is true. It is the desired outcome that is the pickle. Most of the time the time you won't move from the friend zone to being a lover. Your backstage pass in not one into the objection of your interest's heart but a front row seat to a show called: "Someone else has what's mine". While you watch, observe, be the shoulder to cry on, in between platonic hugs and late night chats about their current beau/beauties is a soul filled with hope and a sense of failure.

The friend zone is a win win situation if you ask me. Those in the friend zone are not the victims they would like us to believe, they take pleasure in being enslaved by the object of their affections. If one is to die a slow death, why not do it at the hands of the one who tugs at your heartstrings. Secondly these friends get a sense of importance out of the whole thing, they love being needed and being that should to cry on.
If you are in the friend zone I would suggest you man up or woman up and ask your master to release you  and take up the reigns. On the other hand if you have enslaved another, try a catch and release programme good for your urges and your slave's ego.
